ESTIMATE
Estimate is the defined as the process of calculating the
quantities and cost of various items of works. it depends on the plan section and elevation
TYPES OF ESTIMATES
1.Approximate estimate
2.Detailed estimate
3.Revised estimate
4.Supplementary estimate
5.Sub estimate
6.Annual maintenance estimate or repair estimate
7. Complete estimate
1.APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE
Approximate estimate is the simplest one to find out the
approximate cost of any structure before its detailed estimate is to be
prepared .but only the estimate shown the approximate cost of all the works.
TYPES OF APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE
(1) Plinth area method
(2)
Cubical
content method
(3)
Unit cost
method
(4)
Typical
bay method
(5)
Carpet
area method
PLINTH AREA METHOD
Build up area is measured at the floor level of the basement
is called plinth area.
The approximate cost = plinth area of the building x plinth
area rate
CUBICAL CONTENT METHOD
The cubical content of the proposed building is worked out
and multiplied by the rate per cubical
volume of similar building in the locality.
Cubical content = height of the building
UNIT RATE METHOD
In this estimate is prepared by the multiplying the cost per
unit by the number of units in the structure.
TYPICAL BAY METHOD
In this method total area of the structure is equally divided
into the number of units.
Approximate cost = no of bays x cost of one bay
DETAILED ESTIMATE
Detailed estimate is the accurate estimate of proposed work.
Detailed estimate consists of quantities of all works rate and cost of each
item of works. Detailed estimate give exact value of cost and quantities .it accompanied
by the abstract , detailed drawings ,data, lead statement and specifications.
REVISED ESTIMATE
Revised estimate is nothing but. It is detailed estimate
prepared when the revised quantities and cost of original estimate.
REVISED ESTIMATE IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS
When the sanctioned estimate of work exceed by more
than 10% of administration approval.
When the estimate cost is exceed more than 5 % during
execution of work due to increasing thecost
of material or due alternation of
work.
When the sanctioned estimate is more than the actual
requirement.
SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATE
Supplementary estimate is the additional estimate .when the
work is in progress some alternations or additional work are to be necessary in
that time additional estimate is prepared that is called supplementary estimate.
SUB ESTIMATE
For the major project have several smallest works. The
detailed estimate is prepared for each smallest works it is called sub
estimate.
ANNUAL MAINTENANCE ESTIMATE OR REPAIR ESTIMATE
It is a detailed estimate to maintain the existing work in
maintained in good condition. For like white washing, color washing ,flooring ,old
iron works changing etc .that is kept in 2% if capital cost of building.
COMPLETE ESTIMATE
The total expenditure of a project from beginning to completion
of project.
It consists of the followings
cost of land.
cost of survey
preparation of plan and estimate.
cost of approval.
cost of construction.
cost of electrification
etc.
